ITALIAN GROUP PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN

Fall/Winter 2026 

SEPTEMBER 14th - FEBRUARY 1st  (17 WEEKS)

SpeakItaly NYC offers Italian language programs for all ages, from infants to teens.

Families can choose from Giardino Classes, which focus on linguistic aspects of the language, or Enrichment Classes, which emphasize practical language use and interaction with other children. 

We also offer camps, workshops, and special events throughout the year.

Language Classes
Giardino courses offer age- and level-based Italian programs aligned with the CEFR. Young children learn through engaging activities that make the language feel natural, while older students transition to a more structured approach focused on grammar, reading, and conversation. Throughout the program, learners gain confidence and feel supported as they progress alongside their peers.
Enrichment Classes
Enrichment classes such as You & Me, Saturday Drop Off, and Afternoon Italian Club, offer a fun, open-level environment where children learn Italian naturally through projects, stories, music, and games. With longer sessions, kids build confidence and communication skills as they explore, play, and create at their own pace.
Special Events
At SpeakItaly NYC, we do more than teach Italian—we create memorable experiences! Our Workshops, Day Camp, and Seasonal Camps, immerse children in Italian language and culture, while inspiring creativity, curiosity, and fun. These unique opportunities let kids explore Italy’s language, traditions, and stories beyond the classroom, all in a playful and engaging environment.

➤ Giardino language/Levels: A LEVELS – Absolute, Basic, Elementary & High Beginner / B LEVELS – Intermediate, Independent & Emerging Bilingual.
➤ The age range indicated can be flexible. Placement may vary slightly to ensure the best learning experience for every student.
➤ Parents and/or caregivers must stay during all classes for children under the age of 3.

INFANTS & TODDLERS | Age 1-3 (child + caregiver)

CHILDREN | Age 4-10

TEENS | Age 11-16

LANGUAGE LEVELS FOR GROUP COURSES (6+ yo):

A LEVELS:

  • A1 – Absolute Beginner: Your child starts with little to no prior knowledge of Italian.
  • A1+ – Basic Beginner: Your child knows some basic words (colors, shapes, everyday items) but cannot yet formulate articulated sentences.
  • A2 – Elementary Beginner: Your child knows the present tense and can handle simple conversations. They are ready to begin learning past tenses.
  • A2+ – High Beginner: Your child can express everyday needs and requests in Italian, elaborate on ideas, or provide simple explanations. They are proficient in both past and present tenses.

B LEVELS:

  • B1 – Intermediate: Your child can already use the language independently for everyday situations, but still needs support for more complex ideas 
  • B1+ – Independent: Your child is beyond basic understanding and comfortably using more complex skills, but not yet at an advanced level.
  • Emergent Bilingual: Your child speaks Italian comfortably and naturally, similar to a bilingual speaker, but may still need to refine linguistic structures,  vocabulary, and metalinguistic skills.

Please note that these levels are intended as a general guideline for determining a student’s placement.

  • 1-3yo: You & Me
  • 4-5: Giardino dei Piccoli
  • 4-6: Afternoon Italian Club
  • 4-10: Saturday Drop Off
  • 6-8: Giardino dei Mezzani
  • 8-10: Giardino dei Mezzi Grandi
  • 11-13: Giardino dei Grandi
  • 14-16+: Giardino dei Teens

Please note: ages are flexible and based on each child’s language skills and attitude. Placement may vary slightly to ensure the best learning experience for every student.

If you’re interested in starting a group on a day or time that you don’t see on the schedule, feel free to email us at children@speakitalynyc.com  — we’d be happy to explore options with you and see what we can arrange together.

The term consists of a set number of paid weeks. However, the schedule will display an extra week of classes, as the final week is offered as a complimentary make-up session, regardless of whether the child has attended all previous classes. This complimentary make-up class also covers any potential cancellation on our part. Should an additional cancellation be required for any reason, an extra make-up class will be added at the end of the original full semester period.
